{"id":1851,"date":"2015-05-11T13:23:09","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T13:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kol-kore.org\/?page_id=1851"},"modified":"2015-05-11T13:24:06","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T13:24:06","slug":"1851-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kol-kore.org\/en\/parashot\/1851-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Haftarah Parashat Yitro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Revelation is the theme of both the <em>haftarah<\/em> and the <em>parasha. <\/em>Isaiah\u2019s call to prophecy is replete with allusions to Moses.\u00a0 The image of God seated on a lofty throne while the \u201cdoorposts shake.. and the House fills with smoke\u201d (Is. 6:4) reminds us of the the Israelite\u2019s experience: \u201cNow Mount Sinai was all in smoke, for the Lord had come down upon it in fire;\u201d (Ex. 19:18). Isaiah\u2019s response to the call is that he is unworthy, \u201ca man of unclean lips\u201d (Is. 6:5) echoing Moses\u2019 reluctance to serve as God\u2019s messenger seeing that he is \u201cslow of speech and slow of tongue\u201d (Ex. 4:10).\u00a0 Isaiah makes further reference to Moses, albeit through a midrash, when he describes the angel who touches his lips with a coal, thus purging him of any guilt. (Is. 6:6-7). In the <em>parasha, <\/em>the Israelites are given a blueprint for leading a holy life in the Ten Commandments.\u00a0 Isaiah translates his revelation of the angels singing \u201cHoly, holy, holy\u201d into a lifelong mission to push for social justice.\u00a0 The communal commission at Mt.
